get your groceries pronto.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Gronto is a grocery-based app. The app compiles the inventory from all its local partner grocery stores, such that you can look for the products to buy from different stores, compare their prices and pick products that fit your budget the best and save you from burning a hole in your pocket. Gronto also lets you preorder the items added to your cart, making it convenient to pick up the order directly from the store. This was my first UI/UX Project.
When: April 2021 - May 2021
What: Mobile
What: Mobile App
Role: Research, UX and UI
Why: Portfolio Project
Tools: Figma, Adobe AI & PS
THE PROBLEM
-
With online grocery delivery, it takes about 24 - 48 hours for delivery to reach home. Additional delivery charges and checking the quality of the products after the wait makes it a hassle.
-
While ordering from any other online platform, you would have to wait for the product to reach home and then wait again after returning the products back, if it was unsatisfactory till the replaced order comes home, especially in cases of perishable goods.
-
Buying groceries offline at stores requires one to spend additional time looking for products physically.
-
Since this idea emerged during the COVID pandemic, the fear of touching multiple things at the stores also existed.
THE SOLUTION
-
The app allows you to make informed decisions while deciding which store to buy from with appropriate price points. It also allows you to place a preorder, which notifies the shopkeeper to keep all the products ready for pickup by the time you reach.
-
Before payment at the store, the customer can quality check all the products he is taking right then and there.
-
This process saves time which you'd have instead spent waiting for delivery by directly buying from the store.
-
By not touching a million random products while shopping, you can buy products you actually need with limited contact.
-
With inventory from all partner stores in the vicinity of the user, it provides a wide range of options to choose from.
USER RESEARCH
Survey
I took a Google Survey on 21st April 2021 with 130 people and asked them questions which would help me understand the buyer's point of view and check if there would be a demand for Gronto's services.

Analysis
-
73.1% of people mind paying delivery charges and going in search of products.
-
48.5% of people would love procuring products immediately instead of waiting for delivery.
-
These pie charts show that even when the Pandemic was going on, more than a majority of people preferred to buy groceries offline. The pattern in purchasing did not change much, other than the fact that people have been more cautious with hygiene while going out.
-
90% of people felt having a catalogue of the store's inventory would make their shopping experience easier.
